I am very excited to spread the word about my upcoming yoga workshop for bellydancers, focused on lower back care. I am delighted to combine my background as a long-time yoga practitioner and teacher with my experience as a bellydancer.
First we'll discuss some of the causes of lower back pain that are particular to dancers. I'll reveal my anatomy-geek enthusiasm about this crucial part of the body. Then we'll focus on prevention and low-tech treatment. I'll teach you ways to release spasms, stretch muscles and fascia, and strengthen muscles and joints so that you can achieve the balance you need to prevent lower back pain.
You'll leave this workshop feeling freer and stronger in your body. I will provide handouts so that you can practice the techniques at home. No yoga experience is necessary. Please wear form-fitting, comfortable clothes (similar to what you might wear to dance class, minus the skirts and hip scarves). You might also want to bring a pen and notebook so that you can write down your a-ha! moments and relevant notes.
For details and to sign up, please go to the Deep Roots Dance website and click through to Workshops. Or just click here.
Yay! Is the class open to anyone?
