In honor of it being the first Friday of summer, I'm offering "Friday Frivolity", in which I'll show you fun pictures and talk about things that may or may not save the world.
Today I'm going to show you a fun retro-ish hairdo. I like to "do" my hair, which is very long and thick. I do not, however, like to blow it dry or otherwise fuss with it. This can create a challenge, as in order to "do" long hair a certain amount of fuss must be made. It is my blessing and my curse. Yesterday, I came up with a fun little "do" that looked like it took more effort than it did. The picture below is after about six hours of wear. It held up quite well.
Behold, the "Pompytail" (the love-child of a pomp and a ponytail):
I have a cow-lick along my hairline, hence the oh-so-unruly portion sticking out along the left side of my bangs.
This is a very easy hairstyle. All I used was a barrette, a ponytail holder, two bobby pins and a little bit of hairspray for the pomp. To do this yourself, your bangs must be long enough to twist.
Instructions: Gather your bangs and hold them straight up over your head. Hold near the scalp, and begin twisting them. When about an inch or two is twisted, hold the twist onto the head and push it forward, creating the rise/wave action of the pomp. Use the barrette to secure the twist tightly into place.
Gather the rest of the hair into a ponytail at the middle of the back of your head. I made mine super-tight in order to get the sleek look I wanted. Use bobby pins as needed to gather loose tendrils.
I'm going to watch some youtube videos for other hair ideas. I'm thinking pin curls, rag curls, and victory rolls (oh, my!). What are you doing with your hair lately?
